“I’ve got 3 points: A (–4, 1), B (– 2, 5) and C (0, 2)
I’m supposed to translate each point 5 units right and 3 units down. What does that mean?”
“Glad you asked. It’s easy-peasy. You just add 5 to each x and subtract 3 from each y.
Solution: A’ = (1, -2) B’= (3, 2) C’ = (5, -1)
“Hold on a minute!” you scream! “I have to use Matrices! I don’t know where to start!”
“Oh, darn! In that case I’ll have to make you a video so I can draw matrices for you by hand. I don’t think you have the font that uses matrices. Shoot me an email and I’ll send it to you pronto! It’s really super simple once you see it.”
Good Morning! Here’s one to wake you up and get your brain in gear.
x+y=10 y+z=15 x+z=17
What is the average (arithmetic mean) of x, y, and z?
E. It cannot be determined from the information given.
Now you work it. It’s super great to know an easy, quick way to work this so you can save time the day you take the test. You will need if for the reeeeaaaallllly hard ones! Know what I mean?
If you just ‘don’t get it’ and need a quick video demo, just email me and let me know. Donations only.
Solution: A. 7
It doesn’t take a lot for me to get excited I must admit. Sometimes I nearly dance across the kitchen just because I’m excited about something. For me it is usually about creating something or seeing something I have worked for come to pass.
Yes, today I am excited! Number one I survived two hours at the gym weight lifting and kickboxing. It was so much fun. The shower after was great too….so refreshing! Then I realized I am featured on the front page of Mindbites.com, the company that is hosting my instructional videos. I’d love you to visit. You get a free sneak preview of any of my 30 Algebra and Geometry videos…..and for today and a few days after, all my individual Algebra videos are free for the taking! Download away my friend!!!

Ever wonder why every year in math starts with the Number Line? When I was a student I thought it was a waste of time. Why did we do this every year? Again!
Whole numbers, integers….I mean numbers are numbers, right?
Partly it’s a maturity thing. Every year you are a little older and every year you absorb a little more from the discussion. Here it is again for those who really want to know!
No kidding….here is a free video that will set you straight once and for all.
This is a good site to print graph paper when you need it so you don’t have to run t the store when you run out at 9:00 at night! You have a choice of size and layout of graph so it should fit any need you have in algebra or geometry. You do need to have Adobe Reader. There is an icon on the site so you can download it for free if you don’t already have it.
Have fun graphing! Always use a straightedge! Yeah right.
